Co op …learning to win

Are you competitive? Does a strong desire to win drive you? Let’s talk about how we can increase our odds of winning in life. Many times we feel like we have to “outwit, outlast and outplay” one another. However, in this session we will learn that we need to learn to cooperate with the other guys God brings into our lives, in order to ensure that we win.

Define the Win –Becoming the man that God has called me to be

Jonathan / David —1 Samuel 18:1-5
The Problem = Competition / Comparison
Driven by glory? 1Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:23,24

• Our glory is often misunderstood to be about us…but in reality we were created for God’s glory – life is not found when we make much of ourselves but when we make much of God. Colossians 1:15; Revelation 4:11, Philippians 1:18-21

The Key – Cooperation / REALization
• With God’s purpose, plan, and process… Jonathan was the next in line to be King, but gave up his right to fulfill the plan of God.

• With other men of God
• realization of God’s process – Jesus is our example …Philippians 2:1-12
Community – success is found by participating and cooperating with the right community —Ephesians 4, Proverbs 27:17

Enemies of becoming who God has called us to be:
1. Competition
2. Isolation
3. Contamination
• Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character. 1Corinthians 15:33
• Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. Proverbs 13:20

Questions to Consider:
Who is God calling me to be or what is God calling me to do?
Am I completely surrendered to God?
Am I involved in a community of men who can help me and who I in turn can help?

Practical Things that I can do
1. Surrender to God
2. Join some other guys who are trying to follow Christ
3. Start a men’s group
4. Pursue God by cooperating with the Holy Spirit and the guys that He brings into your life

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Matthew 22:37
