Prayer for the New Year

So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. (Colossians 1:9-14 NLT)

God as I begin this new year I want you to be the center of my life. Help me to discover daily your will for my life, lead me, guide me, grow me in wisdom and understanding. Father I want to live in a way that pleases you, allow me to get to know you more and more that I may love you more and live each day with an awareness of you. Father my strength is not enough, I cannot make it without your power, remind me that I can do all things through Christ as I look to Him as the creator of life, the source of eternal life, and the sustainer of my daily life. Fill my life with joy and help to realize and relinquish the pursuit of empty happiness that comes from earthly things and instead cling to the eternal blessings that were purchased for me by Jesus.

This is my prayer for myself, my family, my friends, my church and for you. May our great God do in us and through us all of this and more.
