thoughts from a Christ follower

Power Within

While reading the book of Ephesians I was struck by a phrase in the midst of this prayer that Paul was praying in 3:14-21, “according to his power that is at work within us”.  It struck me so much because many times as we try to live out the life that God has called us to we find ourselves feeling powerless and searching for some external solution.  Paul’s statement of praise to God being able to to so much more that we can ask or even imagine, according to his power that is at work within us leads us to realize and recognize that the power we so desperately need is within us if we are truly in Christ.  When we believed in  Jesus for our salvation God sealed us with the Holy Spirit and came to reside within us.  (Ephesians 1:12-14)

  • All that we need to “live it out” right now is within us – because God is at work in us through His Spirit.  We have more power inside of us than we can even imagine, unfortunately we usually ignore it instead of being unleashed by it.
  • This power is not something we have to go out and get, but someone that is available all the time – God within us through His Spirit.  We need to release God’s power through the Spirit in our lives instead of relinquishing it.
  • We have more power inside of us than we can even imagine, unfortunately we usually ignore it instead of being unleashed by it.

Two steps to release God’s power within us:

  1. ACKNOWLEDGE HIM – we must stop acting as if He isn’t there. Proverbs 3:5,6 Trust Him and acknowledge that He is with you.
  2. ASK Him – Ask Him as the power within to enable you to do all that He has called you to.  Jesus told his early followers that He would be with them, through His Spirit.  That they could ask and He would do it!   John 14:12 -20

God help us to recognize your presence, to not underestimate your power that is in us, and to live according to your promise. May we all be filled with wisdom and understanding of God’s great love for us, a love so full that He lives within us through His Spirit.

So go forth in faith – knowing that God is in you:  “Live it Out” – We were intentionally designed by God to live out who he has made us to be….a person who is living out each day like Jesus and using the gifts he has given us to serve his church; all that God may be glorified through us.
