thoughts from a Christ follower

Prone to Wander

Listening to some tunes this morning…lost in thought and praise.  I was moved by the words of this old hymn “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing”.  Life is busy and sometimes buries us under the weight of weariness, worry, and woeful thoughts.  We question how we could possibly go on and make the difference that we hope to make for our God, our families, our friends, and ourselves.  The answer, by remembering that it is all God’s and returning our focus upon His presence.

He isn’t oblivious to our life but is interacting with us in it.    How do I know, because of Jesus.  Ephesians 1:3 – 13 reminds us that God has blessed us in heavenly places with every spiritual blessing through Jesus.  He planned for our redemption, accepted us into His family, and sealed us with his Holy Spirit.  He is the creator and the sustainer of life…the author and finisher of our faith.

So although our hearts are prone to wander let us return to the place where we are loved unconditionally…

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.
