Christmas Celebration or Blues?

Christmas is the time of year that we celebrate the most amazing event of all time – God becoming one of us in the person of Jesus Christ.  John 1 gives us some amazing insight into this amazing event, here are a few highlights: The light of the world overcame darkness, the Creator became a part of His creation but they rejected him, Jesus revealed God to us full of grace and truth, and God gave us the power to become one of His children if we will accept Jesus.

Christmas should be a time of great celebration of all that God has given us in Christ, but for many it brings memories of lost joys because of the passing of a loved one.  What once were times of laughter, love, and fun are now times of loneliness and longing.  We find ourselves wishing that the clock could be turned back and the person that we lost could rejoin us again.

I have watched a few friends and family members lose people that were very dear to them and usually feel helpless when it comes to easing their pain or filling their emptiness.  That is why I decided to write this blog – please use this forum to share a prayer request for friends that have lost loved ones or as a place to remember the loved one you have lost.  Feel free to share a memory that brings you joy as you remember your loved one or share a prayer request for your friends who are having a tough time celebrating this Christmas.

I am praying for all of you that have the Christmas blues due to loss, asking that God overwhelms with His loving presence, fills your heart with peace and comfort, and heals your hurting heart.  He still has a great plan for your life and will not leave you alone – He is there with you each step of the way!  May He richly bless your lives this Christmas.

Here are a few of my friends that I am praying for: Kent lost his wife in 2008, Joe lost his son just last month, and Jim lost his wife just a few months ago.  Please share your friends names in the comments area and we will collectively pray for them together.  You can also use the comments area to share your special memory of that loved one that you lost.  I will check the comments several times a day and after I approve them they will be available for everyone to read.

May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.  All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.  He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.  when they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.  2Corinthians 1:2-4

  1. Thank you for writing such an awsome blog. I thank of the baby I only carried for 4 months. Each Christmas I hang a heart on the tree to remind me that God had other plans for my little one.

I am praying for all of those who have lost a baby.

  2. This Christmas will be a tough one for Don’s Aunt Marie and his family, as his Uncle was killed in a motorcycle accident this summer.

  3. Missing our son Matt who recently passed to be in the presence of his heavenly Father, cradled in His loving arms. A big man with a gentle heart who loved and cherished his wife and little boy. I’ll miss his Sunday phone calls, our times together during special occasions and our times together playing golf. Matt belonged to God. Thank you heavenly Father for the time you allowed us to have Matt in our lives. One day we will see him again.

Thank you Pastor Greg for your prayers and this venue to share with others – God Bless
